Circuit
Bloom

This page is a printed circuit board. Scroll, and the copper routes itself around everything you read. Somewhere past the fold it learns photosynthesis — because open hardware works the same way: give a machine away, and it grows.

U1 · Right-to-Repair Controller
Ownership, electrically speaking

If you can't open it, you don't own it.

If you can't fix it, you're renting it with extra steps.

Somewhere along the way, sleek became a synonym for sealed. Batteries glued in. Memory soldered down. A $4 part hiding behind a $400 repair and a security screw shaped like a flower. Cute. We own flower bits.

Open hardware flips the polarity: schematics published, parts standard, warranty intact when you get curious. The manual doesn't say “no user-serviceable parts inside.” It says welcome.

Manufacturing, but yours

A factory the size of a toaster.

Desktop machines that eat a spool of plastic and spit out the part they stopped selling in 2019.

FDM-1

The replicator (basically)

A 3D printer turns a $19 spool into the dishwasher clip, the drone arm, the knob that snapped in 2021. Download the part. Print the part. Own the part. The catalog is the whole internet now.

CNC-1

The breadbox mill

A desktop CNC carves aluminum exactly like the factory does — minus the factory. One garage machine can outlive three product lines. Ask it nicely, in G-code.

SRC-0

The seed file

Open hardware ships its own DNA: gerbers, firmware, a bill of materials you can actually read. Lose the company, keep the machine. That's the whole trick.

Personal manufacturing isn't sci-fi. It's a bench, a spool, and a repo. 🧪

PS-1 · Photosynthesis Unit
The part the spec sheet can't explain

Watch the copper learn photosynthesis.

Closed hardware ends at the warranty — a tidy little death, scheduled by the legal department. Open hardware keeps going. It gets forked, fixed, translated, taught new tricks by strangers with soldering irons and strong opinions.

Same board. Same traces. New life. That isn't decay. That's spring. 🌱

One drawing. Two readings. Nothing was replaced — it just kept growing.
